It is important to distinguish your symptoms from the underlying root causes when it comes to illness. Symptoms are the body’s way of communicating the problems; they are not the cause of your illness but a result of it. When your body shows signs and symptoms of illness, it is your body’s way of trying to heal and alert you that something is wrong. By finding the root cause of the illness, you can naturally alleviate the symptoms.
Traditional medicine is focused on treating the symptoms and not getting to the root cause. If you have ever gone to the doctor and your medical condition seemed to worsen over time, this is a result of your symptoms being treated but the root not being identified. When this happens, you can manage the pain or other symptoms but cannot eliminate the condition, which is why the symptoms keep returning. This also results in spending an excessive amount of money on medicine and doctor visits, and you still don’t feel better, or if you do, it is only for a short period of time, and then you have to spend more money. Even if you have insurance and they are covering most of these expenses, this cycle is not the key to a balanced and adequately functional life.
Root cause exploration paves the way to a more comprehensive understanding of what is contributing to the dis-ease your body is experiencing. This process helps understand and solve the health problem.
There are 6 steps in the Root Cause exploration process:
- Identify the problem
- Define the problem
- Understand the problem
- Identify the root cause
- Corrective root cause action
- Monitor the body
This process can encompass running lab tests and answering detailed questions about your lifestyle and day-to-day activities. You may learn that there are several common root causes of disease:
- Lack of knowledge
- Economic status
- Social media
- Work-life
- Home-life
- Genes
- Food habits
- Toxins
Your body is naturally designed to be healthy and can heal itself when the root cause of a problem is discovered and the stressors are removed. It is important to remember that drugs can mask symptoms, create additional problems or side effects, and only provide temporary relief. Sometimes medicine is required, but the goal of getting to the root allows it to be reduced or eliminated completely in the future.
